With the NHL starting into the 2nd quarter of the Regular Season it's time to take a look ahead at what's happening in a 2 week break from our beloved league next February. Which Bruins players will make their national teams and who'll enjoy the Olympics in front of their home tv ? The Road to Sochi begins ...
Over the next 12 weeks until the opening match of the Sochi hockey tournament on February 12th we'll mainly focus at the players and teams with B's players involved beeing Slovakia and the United States in group A, Canada and Finland in group B and Sweden and Czech Republic in group C.
More than anything I would have liked to cover my homecountry's team taking on the best players in the world, but Germany failed to qualify for the Olympics this February when they couldn't win a tournament with Italy, the Netherlands and Austria. So basically I could have called this series "beeing Dennis Seidenberg", making it easier for you guys and myself to decide which B's players team you should be cheering for IF not for your homecountry.
I'll also talk about the failed chance for Germany to promote themselves and especially the sport of hockey in this country by not qualifying for the most important international tournament in the world.
Episode 2 will feature Milan Lucic and Brad Marchand next week, as we'll take an early look at their chances to make Team Canada.
