Déjà-Vu - Merlot line beats the Rangers

Paille - Campbell - Thornton or just the Merlot line ... three guys playing together for years and showing what it's like to be a Bruin like no others. Last night against the Rangers they were the key-factor once again.

First of all sorry for not blogging lately but hey I was busy and lazy at the same time, yep that's actually possible ... I've set myself some aims for this blog in the future and well I hope you guys like what I'm doing,
thanks for reading and sharing in advance. You've already made this blog something special in the offseason !

Once again the Bruins had to play a back-to-back game last night, finishing their three game road trip which started in Ottawa with a 2 - 4 loss against the Senators in you've already guessed it a back-to-back game.
The team had their problems with playing in those games all season long as they've been outshot and outplayed by their opponents most of the time, for example against the Sharks or the well known first period against the Ducks.

Somehow they still managed to win 2 out of 3 back-to-back games this season, just dropping that 2-0 lead in Ottawa last week. Coming into last night's game it has been a bit of a surprise that Tuukka Rask was the Starter as he had already played against the Hurricanes the night before. And Rask delivered in a way which is just remarkable, stopping 43 shots on his net only allowing a goal on the PP by Derick Brassard and stopping a penalty shot from Chris Kreider.
In 10 of his 18 starts this season Tuukk hasn't allowed more than one goal just proving that he's worth the money he earns and that the Bruins office made the right decision going into the future with him.

Offensively it was the usual stuff when you had to play the other night in a different city ... no wonder it was the Bruins depth that got them this victory, as it has been so many times before in recent years.
Shawn Thornton scored his second goal in the last three games to open the score in the 2nd period.
Linemate and warrior Gregory Campbell squared off with Dereck Dorsett in the first before adding himself to the scorebord midway through the second.
Mr. Shorthanded Daniel Paille was his target on a Rangers Power-Play (which lead to their only goal later) and Paille cashed in to make it a two goal lead for the Bs.

If we take a look back at what happened in last season's Eastern Conference Semifinal it almost seems as a déjá-vu what happened last night at Madison Square Garden. The Merlot line, arguably the best fourth line in the league, combined for 10 points against the Rangers which almost single-handedly put the Bruins on their way to the next round.
Though their couldn't reach last seasons pace so far, last nights game shows which difference a fourth line can make ... especially the special 4th line.

On the negative side Bruins lost my fellow countryman Dennis Seidenberg due to injury after just one shift which forced them to play with 5 defenseman all night long. There is no update on his status yet.

I'll end this post with a video from my History will be made series I produced all playoffs long.
On that note Let's go Merlot !
