Boston Bound - Bergeron forever a Bruin

via CBS Boston

After locking up Tuukka Rask through the 2020-21 season, the Bruins have yet locked up another franchise player with Patrice Bergeron.
Bergeron, who has one year left on his current contract signed for the maximum of 8 years with an annual cap hit of $6.5 million kicking in at the start of the 2014-15 season.

Last time he spoke with the media, Bergeron said "it would mean a lot" to sign a long-term extension with the Bruins, which has been his goal since the beginning of his career in Boston.
He loves the city, people, everything about Boston. "early on, I wanted to stay in Boston. same now, I want to retire as a Bruin"
Bergy was picked 45th overall in the 2nd Round of the 2003 NHL draft and is now more than likely to retire in a Bruins jersey (he's 35 when his contract ends).
It wouldn't be surprising to see number 37 in the rafters of TD Garden one day, as Bergeron is already a legend at young age.
He's one out of 25 players in hockey's famous "Triple Gold Club", winning 3 gold medals with Team Canada (Olympics, World Championship [and World Juniors]) and the Stanley Cup with the Bruins.
Furthermore, Bergeron has won the Selke Trophy as the leagues top Defensive Forward last year and only came short to Jonathan Toews this year.
This season, Bergy won the King Clancy Trophy for his leadership qualities on and off the ice and his significant humanitarian contribution to his communitiy.

Alongside former teammate Tyler Seguin he won the Spengler Cup, hockey's oldest invitational tournament.
Bergeron battled through the final series with a broken rib, a torn cartilage, a separated shoulder and
a punctured lung to win his second Stanley Cup with the Bruins, but it wasn't meant to be.
Patrice embodies everything what the Boston Bruins stand for and I couldn't think of this team without Bergy.
With Zdeno Chara turning 37 next season (his contract goes until he's 41) there should be no doubt that Bergeron is the Bruins Captain of the future.
