In Tuukka we trust - Rask signs Eight-Year Contract

via CBC

If there was any doubt that the Bruins will resign Tuukka Rask after his impressive playoff performance it has now been officially removed.
The management just announced that he's been signed to an 8 year contract worth $56 Million, which makes an annual cap hit of 7 mil a year.

Rask, who has been signed to a one year contract last summer in order to prove that he's worth the starting job, played in 36 games last season (19-10-5) posting a 2.00 GAA and a .929 SV%
Surprisingly he wasn't nominated for the Vezina Trophy by the NHL, though he gave his own answer in the playoffs.
When the Bruins won the Cup back in 2011 they were lead by an amazing performance from Tim Thomas who achieved numbers for decades.
Tuukka Rask certainly didn't pay attention to the press or anyone comparing him to the Bruins former goaltender, surpassing his "numbers for decades" with a 1.88 GAA and a .940 SV% with 3 shutouts in 22 games.
Is Rask worth the money he'll earn ? One could say that he already took a discount last year and it's obvious that he was under surveillance for a whole season.
Tuukka was there when his team needed him and didn't collapse under pressure.
Also the price for goalies will just increase in the next years, if even a guy like Cam Ward (no offence) is making 6.3 $ million for Carolina.
Now we got our franchise goalie for the next 8 years and one should never forget that Rask only turned 26 this spring.
All in all it's a good deal for both sides, for the Bruins organization, for Tuukka who said that he wants to be a Bruin for life and not to forget for us Bruins fans.
